Time: The 2nd Monday of every month

 7:00PM – 8:30PM

           Authors may come at 6:30 to set up their displays.

 

Cost: The program is free to the audience and to the authors.   

          Donations will be accepted to help defray the library’s  

          operating costs. ABITH and Shelf Space have no budget.

 

Details:          

 

*The authors must read from and/or discuss published books only. All genres of prose are accepted:  All fiction, all non-fiction, YA, kids, etc. No poetry, plays, essays, or free-standing short stories.

*All forms of publishing are accepted: self/independent publishing, mainstream publishing, vanity press, etc., as long as the end result is a book.

*After the second presentation, there will be a shared ten minute Q&A session followed by time to “meet the authors.”

*Each author will be asked to provide the facilitator with a few sentences to be used as an introduction.

*Each author has a thirty minute time limit to do with as he or she chooses. 

*The authors may sell their books and keep 100% of the sale money. The sale is between the author and customer, with no 3rd party involved.

*Each author will be asked to donate (optional) one copy of the featured book for a raffle. There will be two drawings, and each winner will receive one of the books as the prize.

*The library is equipped with a stage (with microphones, speakers, and screen for power-point, etc) and can seat an audience of forty. Advance notice is required if an author would like to use the

library’s electronic equipment.

*The authors are free to provide refreshments for the audience (no alcohol), and will be responsible for setting up before and cleaning up after the program.

*The authors are free to bring handouts: bookmarks, postcards, business cards, brochures, etc.

*The authors may consider donating a copy of their book to the library.

*Although ABITH will publicize each monthly event online and in print, authors are encouraged to do their own publicity as well. Kindly mention A Book in the Hand in your announcements. Thank you.

*The large oak table will accommodate two authors, their books, and display/marketing materials.
